What Are The Main Types Of Industrial Brakes?

Nov 15, 2024

The main types of industrial brakes include electromagnetic brakes, hydraulic brakes, pneumatic brakes, disc brakes, band brakes, block brakes, etc. These brakes have different working principles and applicable scenarios in industrial applications.

‌Electromagnetic brake‌: Braking through electromagnetic force, mainly composed of electromagnet, armature and friction plate. When the electromagnet is energized, the armature attracts the friction plate and contacts with the brake disc or brake drum, generating friction to brake the machine.

‌Hydraulic brake‌: Braking through the pressure of hydraulic oil, mainly composed of piston, cylinder and friction plate. When the hydraulic oil enters the cylinder, the piston pushes the friction plate to contact with the brake disc or brake drum, generating friction to brake the machine.

‌Pneumatic brake‌: Braking through air pressure, mainly composed of cylinder, piston and friction plate. When the air pressure enters the cylinder, the piston pushes the friction plate to contact with the brake disc or brake drum, generating friction to brake the machine.

‌Disc brake‌: Braking through friction plate, mainly acting in the axial direction of the tire.
‌Belt brake‌: Braking is performed through a belt structure, suitable for occasions that require a larger braking torque‌.
‌Block brake‌: Braking torque is generated through two rows of symmetrical brake pads, suitable for occasions that require a stable braking torque‌.
